Bubba Organics Family-Friendly Australia Day Activities 2018

Our Pick of Family-Friendly Australia Day Activities 2018

Do you remember pre-kids Australia Day celebrations? They often involved long, hot days and tall, cool glasses of something intoxicating! But things change when there’s a new babe in the family. So if you’re wondering how best to celebrate this national public holiday, read on for our pick of family-friendly Australia Day activities to enjoy with your little Aussies.

Australia Day Celebrations in the City

Every capital city across the country hosts their own Australia Day celebrations so if you’re feeling adventurous, a trip into the city is sure to be met with wide-eyed wonder by your little ones. Peppa Pig hits the stage for two shows at the RACV Australia Day Festival in Melbourne’s gorgeous Kings Domain Gardens, Darling Harbour in Sydney boasts a range of family fun including the True Blue Bush Games and at Perth’s Langley Park Entertainment Zone there are bouncy castles, a mini Ferris Wheel and a water playground where little ones can splash about. Check out the Australia Day website to see what’s going on where you are.

Meet Our Native Wildlife

What better way to introduce your kiddos to our native wildlife than with a trip to the zoo on Australia Day. From the famed Taronga Zoo in Sydney, Melbourne Zoo and Healesville Sanctuary in Victoria and Australia Zoo in Queensland, we have some of the very best animal sanctuaries in the world. Monarto Zoo in South Australia is the largest open-range zoo in Australia and Tasmania Zoo is home to native animals including wombats, kangaroos, echidnas and crocodiles. You’re free to explore at your own pace so take a deep breath and just stroll, recapturing the magic and wonder of our native wildlife through the eyes of your little one.

Beach Babes

The beach is a sensory wonder for babies, kids and adults alike. The whoosh of the ocean rolling in and then out again, the feeling of the cool water on little toes, the magic of sand that can run through fingers or be patted into sandcastles, even the salty air on your tongue – each of these new sensations is thrilling to little ones. Pack plenty of water and sunscreen. And for the perfect after-sun care, our rich, creamy Lavender & Chamomile Baby Bottom Cream will gently nourish baby’s skin – and yours!

May Gibbs-inspired picnic

Looking for a low-key family event this Australia Day? For Sydneysiders a visit to May Gibbs’ Museum House & Garden – Nutcote on Sydney Harbour will make for a peaceful afternoon. If this idyllic location is out of reach, fill your picnic basket with some homemade sausage rolls (don’t forget the tom sauce!), some yummy watermelon slices and maybe a lamington or two and head to your local park or nature reserve. Introduce your little gumnut baby to crinkly gum leaves, watch tiny bugs trekking through blades of grass and just go s-l-o-w. If there’s a cheeky glass of wine for Mum and Dad, all the better!

However you choose to spend the day,

Bubba Organics wishes you a very happy Australia Day.
