Ideas for Celebrating Mother’s Day Your Way!

Mother’s Day is fast approaching in Australia and that means people across the country are wondering what the best way is to show how much they love and appreciate the mothers in their lives. We agree that celebrating Mother’s Day is important – mums have one of the hardest jobs in the world. We raise the future generation, after all!

However, sometimes the people who love us most don’t always know exactly what we want when it comes to Mother’s Day celebrations. Perhaps you’re not sure yourself! We are so programmed to put others first. For inspiration, we chatted to four mums to find out how they love celebrating Mother’s Day.

It’s All About Pampering!

Vicki has three little boys aged 6, 4 and 18 months. So life is busy at Vicki’s place! Before kids, Vicki was a fan of facials and massages, so when her husband Joel organised a home visit with a beauty therapist, she was ecstatic.

“Joel planned the whole thing himself which was such a surprise! He took the boys to spend time with their grandmother while I had the most relaxing facial and hot stone massage. It was heavenly!”

It can be difficult to arrange a spa treatment on a Sunday so consider celebrating Mother’s Day earlier on the Saturday. That leaves Sunday free to celebrate your own mum or grandmother.

A Movie Date for One

“I hope this doesn’t sound selfish, but I told my husband what I was desperate to do was see a movie in the cinema all by myself!” says Kara, mum of 2-year-old Louis.

And we totally get it! Going to the cinema is just one of many favourite activities that get put on hold while babies are little. So Kara had a lovely breakfast with her son and husband and then she took a solo trip to the local cinema. “I was worried I might fall asleep but that would have been blissful, too!”

A Picnic in the Park

Single mum Sally wanted to make the most of the autumn weather so she and her own mother decided to take a drive to the Dandenong Ranges with a picnic blanket and a delicious hamper of goodies from their local bakery.

“My daughter Evelyn was three at the time so she loved having wide open space to run around and play. It was such a special way to celebrate Mother’s Day with three generations of girls.”

A Quiet Day at Home

Amanda celebrated her very first Mother’s Day when her daughter Tilly was only 3 weeks old. “I was exhausted,” Amanda says. “I hadn’t really adjusted to life out and about with a baby so the idea of celebrating Mother’s Day at a restaurant was not appealing.”

Instead, Amanda told her husband Jake that a slow day at home together was the perfect way to celebrate. After sleeping in until 8am, she had a long, luxurious shower without worrying if the baby cried. She blow-dried her hair, lit a fragrant candle, and drank a cup of tea while it was still warm.

The simplest things can become almost impossible to achieve with a new baby. Self-care can go out the window. Spending a slow day full of self-care can be so rejuvenating. Try our luxurious mums and bubs range Kakadu Plum & Marshmallow as part of your self-care routine. It’s naturally soothing and aromatic, the perfect spirit lifter for tired mums.

Fill Up Your Own Cup

The very best way to celebrate Mother’s Day is in a way that fills up your cup. So don’t be afraid to ask for exactly what you want. Most mums want meaningful moments over material things – but if you want the gorgeous handbag you’ve had your eye on, we think you’ve earned that, too!

From the Bubba team to all our special mums and customers, we wish you the happiest Mother’s Day 2022. We think you’re doing an incredible job.
